Review

Male nudity puts the thrills into Mikael Marcimain’s Scandinavian thriller Gentlemen (2014), not to be confused with Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy The Gentlemen (2017). Based on Klas Östergren’s popular novel of the same name, this flick is set in post-World War II Sweden. It follows Klas Östergren (David Fukamachi Regnfors), a passive young man with literary ambitions, who meets and befriends Henry Morgan (David Dencik). No, not the Henry Morgan who played Colonel Sherman T. Potter on the sitcom smash M*A*S*H. This Henry Morgan is a raconteur with a skill for both boxing and playing jazz piano. He invites Klas to share his massive … Stockholm apartment. As such, the writer moves in with him and his drug addicted brother Leo (Sverrir Gudnason). The artsy guys hang out with their eccentric circle of friends including Birger (Peter Carlberg), Greta, (Pernilla August), Knegarn (Anders Beckman), Maud (Ruth Vega Fernandez), and Vivi (Liv Mjönes). When they’re not writing or playing piano, they’re exploring the vast system of caverns beneath their apartment building. Of course, when it comes to exploring caverns beneath the surface, we love to look at the skin beneath men’s clothes. And luckily for us, Mr. Dencik doffs his duds! The handsome hunk teases us when he bares his back and butt while pulling up his silk boxers. If that’s not arousing enough, Mr. Gudnason makes Mr. Man feel good when he flashes his abs, sack and shaft as he sits pensively in the window. Talk about a room with a view!
