Jolene (2008)

Based on the E.L. Doctorow short story of the same name, the emotional drama Jolene (2008) follows the titular character (Jessica Chastain), a Southern-fried child bride that drifts wherever her whim blows her. When the independent fifteen-year-old starts an affair with her husband’s uncle Luke (Dermont Mulroney), she soon splits and goes on a decade long tour of the United States, having sex with creepy dudes, becoming a tattoo artist and a stripper during her eye-opening journey.
