Junebug (2005)

Set in rural North Carolina, the independent drama Junebug (2005) follows Madeleine (Embeth Davidtz), a Windy City sophisticate who owns an art gallery that specializes in outsider art. With her husband George (Alessandro Nivola), a native of the area, in tow, the highbrow art dealer heads south in an attempt to score eccentric painter David Wark’s (Frank Hoyt Taylor) works for her gallery. His art is crazy, and features images of scrotums and white slaves because he doesn't know any black people, and only paints people he knows. The plan is to get some of David's weirdest works for the gallery, then spend some time bonding with George's family. So, instead of putting up in a hotel, the travelling couple stays with George’s parents, Peg (Celia Weston) and Eugene (Scott Wilson). Like all good mom-in-laws, Peg doesn’t care too much for her son’s wife, while dad mostly hides in the corner and whittles his wood carvings. Also living in the house is Johnny (Ben McKenzie), George’s loser younger brother, and his peppy pregnant wife, Ashley (Amy Adams). When the couples all start getting to know each other, the hosts drop their homespun hospitality and get real in a way only families that have buried lifelong resentments can. Our city folk should've stayed away from this small town and gone to pound town together, instead! Amy Adams nabbed an Oscar nomination for her work as the perky pregnant chick in this one, but it was Allesandro Nivola that really left a lasting impression for Mr. Man. While the family goes after each other’s throats, you get to enjoy some butt cheeks from Alessandro Nivola as he humps his wife. Allesandro is all up in that babe! Put a portrait of that ass in an art gallery! Junebug will have you jumping!
