Based on the memoir by Amy-Jo Albany, the 2014 biopic Low Down shows the relationship between Amy-Jo (Elle Fanning) and her father Joe (John Hawkes), a well-established jazz pianist during the late 60s and 70s who reached the pinnacle of his career by playing alongside such greats as Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker. Of course, with fame comes indulgence and it’s only a matter of time before Joe finds himself addicted to heroin. Oh, boy! Yeah, it’s a tearjerker that’s made slightly better by a shirtless Peter Dinklage. We’d like to get low and down with Dinklage!
