O (2001)

In a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Othello, O (2001) follows Odin James (Mekhi Phifer), a fantastically gifted point guard and the only black student at a private high school that’s nestled deep in the American South. Besides being a star on the court, Odin is one of the popular kids, and he just happens to be dating the beautiful Desi (Julia Stiles). Life is perfect for Odin until his best friend and fellow teammate, Hugo Goulding (Josh Hartnett), let’s his jealous get in the way of their friendship. With envy on his heart and vengeance on his mind, Hugo seeks to destroy his buddy by any means necessary. So Hugo sets out to convince Odin that Desi is cheating on him with another b-baller, Michael (Andrew Keegan). As the basketball season comes to a close, the real drama between the catty high schoolers begins to unfold. The real fun happens when Josh Hartnett lifts up his shirt to show off his abs, while Mekhi Phifer and Andrew Keegan both show off their buff bodies during a weird montage. Sexy!
