If you want to see how a little creativity and a ton of heart can pump out a great horror flick on a wildly low budget, then check out The Battery (2012). Shot on a reported six-thousand-dollar budget collected by begging buddies for a few bucks, writer-director Jeremy Gardner stars as Ben, a former baseball player trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse alongside his ex-teammate Mickey (Adam Cronheim). Ben has adapted to their nomadic lifestyle after living with Mickey's family for a while and watching all of them die while trapped in a surrounded house. Mickey, on the other hand hates sleeping outside and spends his free time listening to music on a Walkman despite it using so many batteries that would be better off preserved. While the former pitcher and catcher avoid the dead and look for safety, the two find themselves bickering and fighting, taking their frustrations out on one another. Eventually they hear a woman named Annie (Alana O'Brien) on a Walkie Talkie saying she's a member of a survivor's community, but that neither Mickey nor Ben are invited to join. Since Mickey really needs a new family, Ben decides they'll force their way into that community, leading to all sorts of issues. You’ll be more than frustrated if you need a skin fix. In a distant shot, Jeremy Gardner gets completely nude while showering in a waterfall. Mr. Man would love to pitch to this former catcher! Beyond that, there's a scene where Jeremy hangs out in his sweatpants while shirtless. It might not be the most traditionally sexy shot in film history, but it'll do in a pinch. You've gotta be resourceful! Grab a fresh set of double A's and your favorite buzzing buddy to check out that scene in The Battery!
