Adapted from the autobiographical Larry Kramer play of the same name, the HBO film The Normal Heart (2014) is set during the early 1980s and follows writer and gay activist Ned Weeks (Mark Ruffalo) as he tries to raise awareness about an unidentified disease that is mainly killing off gay men living in New York City. Jonathan Groff co-stars as Craig, the lover of Bruce (Taylor Kitsch), a closeted investment banker that begins to panic when his love starts suffering from coughing fits. To make matters worse, Ned’s man Felix (Matt Bomer), gets the disease and starts to wither away. Ned soon sees that it his calling to educate people about the health epidemic that begins eating away at the gay community. Where there is a lot of drama, there isn’t a lot of skin. Matt Bomer briefly bares his ass during a playful moment of sexual excitement, while Mark Ruffalo adds a dash of shirtless action. The guys of The Normal Heart will have your heart racing!
