Great Nudity!

Review

Primarily a spoof of the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line (2005), Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) pokes fun at many musical movies including Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980), Great Balls of Fire (1989) and Ray  (2004). Under the direction of Jake Kasdan (who co-wrote the screenplay with Judd Apatow), this hilarious sendup sees John C. Reilly strum, croon, and boogie his way through the title role. As the movie traces his rise from adverse beginnings to superstardom and all its trappings, Dewey rubs elbows (and other parts of his anatomy) with Darlene Madison (Jenna Fischer) and Edith Cox (Kristen Wiig). The rising star also encounters rock-n-roll legends such as The Beatles (Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Justin Long and Jason Schwartzman), The Big Bopper (John Ennis), Buddy Holly (Frankie Muniz), and Elvis Presley (Jack White). If that’s not star-studded enough, the movie includes cameos of Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, Jewel, Ghostface Killah, Lyle Lovett, and The Temptations as themselves. Although the film earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song and Best Performance in a Musical or Comedy, it was considered a box office flop. As the tagline (“Life made him tough. Love made him strong. Music made him hard.”) suggests, you may get hard while watching this flick. Not only does a topless Mr. Reilly don tighty whities,Bert (Tyler Nilson) proves to be a scene stealer when he reveals his backside, balls and flopping rod at the 28-minute mark. No doubt, his nudity will make your nether regions dewey!
