A lonely life in a big city? Check. A songwriter-in-the-making sleeping with every woman humanly possible? Check. Welcome to L.A. (1977), directed by Alan Rudolph, follows Carroll Barber, a womanizer to rival all other cinematic womanizers. The movie follows his conquests, from a housemaid who vacuums topless to a housewife who's strangely addicted to taxi rides, all while his very wealthy father supports him financially (and unknowingly provides him with more opportunities to get laid). A satire on the empty Los Angeles lifestyle and all the one-night stands that entails, it's surprisingly clothed, with only sexy Harvey Keitel deciding to strip off his shirt and hop in the shower. Sigh. And we thought L.A. would be so much more naked.
