Paul Mescal is a Mr. Man favorite. He's sort of an everyone's favorite. He is about to be a huge star - as if he isn't already - and that is thanks to his action-hero role in Ridley Scott's upcoming Gladiator sequel. What can we expect from Gladiator II? Let's talk about it.
The Irish actor has a lot of things on deck. After starring in majorly moving films such as Aftersun and All of Us Strangers, he has earned a lot of interest and acclaim. Now he gets to star in Lionel in The History of Sound, Hamnet as William Shakespeare, Merrilly We Roll Along as Franklin Shepard which is shooting right now.
I want to add a word or two about Merrily We Roll Along because it just won a bunch of Tony Awards. The film is going to be directed by Richard Linklater which is a bit of a shocker. Linklater directing a famous musical? Sure! Why not? Not only that, but it co-stars Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein. Now that's something to sing about!
Linklater just directed Hit Man and talked about how he tried to access a return to the sex drive we all saw in 80s movies in his movie starring the one and only Glen Powell. That makes me excited for Linklater's new era: sex appeal and musicals. From Glen Powell to Paul Mescal, Linklater clearly knows how to pick powerful leading men with powerfully handsome good looks.
He plays Lucius in the upcoming Gladiator film which is coming at us over twenty years after the first film. The Paramount film stars Mescal as Lucius, Maximus' son. Will Russell appear? So far it doesn't seem like it. It's all about luscious Lucius.
He isn't the only starlet in the upcoming film which is set to his theaters in November. The rest of the cast includes Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Matt Lucas, Fred Hechinger, Rory McCann, Joseph Quinn, and more. It's a movie bursting at the seams with manly men ready to show off their muscles in the Roman sun. Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi will reprise their roles!
The original Gladiator film was released in 2000 and won Best Picture. Russell Crowe famously starred in the Oscar-winning film as did Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed, Spencer Treat Clark, Djimon Hounsou, and Richard Harris among others. It was a huge hit, winning awards and smashing box office records. Will the next Gladiator shine as much as the first one did? It has big shoes to fill!
I absolutely adore Paul Mescal and his many acting choices. I hope that his star won't get so big that he stops doing the tender (nudity-filled) roles that made us all fall in love with him. May he have much success, but never forget where he came from: going dick out in the Hulu original series Normal People.
Paul did very normal things like show his cock and we will forever love him for that. If you are struggling to remember what I am talking about, then check out his nude scenes here:
