Wind River (2017)

Native American reservations like Wind River make for compelling, heart-wrenching movies, as their residents didn't exactly willingly inhabit these expanses of land. Here, in Wyoming, a certain kind of pervasive lawlessness means that outsiders are left unchecked - as we soon find out when the body of 18-year-old Natalie is found beaten and bloody in the snow. Jeremy Renner plays a predator hunter who excels in tracking malicious animals, and he's the one who finds her, while new FBI agent Jane (Elizabeth Olsen) comes in to try to solve the case. It's a poignant and brutal story, but it's punctuated with a shirtless, sexy Jon Bernthal to warm you up.
