Irish wit Oscar Wilde was a writer, man-about-town and topic of several biopics. Though the years, he’s been portrayed by Peter Finch in The Trials of Oscar Wilde (1960), Rupert Everett in The Happy Prince (2018), Toby Stephens in Prisoner C33 (2022), and Oscar Conlon-Morrey in Oscar Wilde About America (2025). Of course, we’re also wild about the historical drama Wilde (1997). After starting a family with his wife Constance Lloyd (Jennifer Ehle), the titular character (Stephen Fry) comes to the realization that he’s gay. This throws his world into turmoil since same-sex preference is outlawed in Victorian London. Wilde’s situation becomes more complicated when he meets Lord Alfred “Bosie” Douglas (Jude Law). He falls for the nice-looking ne’er-do-well which doesn’t sit well with Bosie’s daddy (Tom Wilkinson) who has Wilde arrested for being a sodomite. Ironically, the homo-critical father is the Marquess of Queensberry! When Wilde is sentenced to two years hard labor, he keeps a stiff upper lip. Meanwhile, Mr. Man is stiff whenever Mr. Law flaunts his fabulous flesh! Check out the gorgeous guy’s glutes and toned torso 33 minutes into the movie. Later, the superior specimen of man candy flashes his abs and ass while giving wood to Alfred Wood (Benedict Sandifor) who, in turn, serves up his PBJ (pecs, balls and junk). Plus, Fry’s Wilde literally loses his top when he gets busy with a shirtless John Gray (Ioan Gruffudd) in one scene and a naked Robert Ross (Michael Sheen) in another. Talk about a Wilde ride!
