It may be unfair to insinuate that the people of Scotland are prone to excessive drinking, but then the adjective most commonly used to describe products and attributes of their homeland, Scotch, is also synonymous with a popular and potent variety of hard spirits. 16 Years of Alcohol (2002) follows the sodden adventures of Frankie (Kevin McKidd), a tough lad from Edinburgh, drinking like a lord and marauding like a hooligan. The drinking, the beatings, and the stabbings have a way of aging even the sturdiest young person, gracing them with either a rough, premature wisdom or an early grave. The hard, cold urban lanes of this modern-day colony are short of any soft middle ground. And speaking of hard things, Kevin McKidd's body seems to be cut out of stone when he spends some time pressing his package into his lady love. It's dim and shot from the side, but it's enough to start up your happy hour!
