Ali & Nino (2016)

Ali & Nino, based on the 1937 eponymous novel, takes us to the Russian province of Azerbaijian - or more specifically, the city of Baku. East meets West here, where the Muslim prince Ali (Adam Bakri) falls in love with Eastern Orthodox Nino from Georgia. They plan to marry, but Nino's parents make other arrangements for her. The matter gets worse when a mutual friend of theirs kidnaps Nino in an attempt to elope with her and Ali is forced to retreat to an inconspicuous mountain village. When the First World War begins and international interest in Baku's oil mounts, their romance becomes a fight for their lives. We get to see Bakri shirtless two different times when he anticipates Nino's arrival, and damn, the man is sexy!
