Since lightning seldom strikes twice, it’s no surprise An American Werewolf in Paris (1997) was a critical miss. Deemed as unoriginal and unamusing, the stand-alone sequel to the mega-hit An American Werewolf in London (1981) barely broke even at the box office. In fact, the only accolade it earned was a nomination for Worst Sequel at the 1997 Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. Nevertheless, the R rated flick isn’t without some merits — namely the bare buns on its leading man Tom Everett Scott. As an American tourist named Andy McDermott, Scott and his buddy Brad (Vince Vieluf) travel to France to see the sights of Paris. While checking out the Eiffel Tower, Andy meets mystery woman Sérafine Pigot (Julie Delpy) and her even more mysterious friend Claude (Pierre Cosso), who turns out to be a werewolf. Actually, he’s the leader of a werewolf society! One thing leads to another and the next thing you know Andy becomes a werewolf too. While under the lunar influence, the Yank goes on a killing spree — eventually taking down Claude and literally eating his heart out. For some magical reason, this ends his curse and he’s free to marry Sérafine at the Statue of Liberty. But not before we encounter Andy’s friend Chris (Phil Buckman), Amy Finch (Julie Bowen), and the aforementioned skin on Mr. Scott at the 57-minute mark. We’re not sure just how scary this horror comedy is but the shot of Tom’s full moon may help stir the shapeshifter in your jeans!
