Another Round (2020)

Druk (2020), or Another Round, is the eleventh feature film from Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, co-founder of the Dogme 95 movement with fellow countryman Lars von Trier. In what could easily be his most human film to date, Vinterberg brings us the tale of four teachers and friends—Martin (Mads Mikkelsen), Tommy (Thomas Bo Larsen), Peter (Lars Ranthe), and Nikolaj (Magnus Millang)—who have found their lives becoming stale and repetitive. While celebrating Nikolaj's 40th birthday, Martin brings up a controversial theory he has read which states that keeping a blood alcohol level of about 0.05, just below the legal limit, makes a person more relaxed, creative, and engaged with life. While the others dismiss the theory at first, Martin decides to dive headfirst into this notion, noticing its rather immediate benefits. His other friends become inspired by Martin's newfound love of life and decide to give in to the experiment. Their only two ground rules are that their BAC can never drop below 0.05 and they will never drink past 8pm on a school night. The friends soon find nearly every avenue of their lives improving and, feeling that the success will only multiply as a result, decide to crank their minimum BAC up to 0.1 since that could only double the benefits. One can imagine where things go from there. While there's no nudity to speak of in the flick, we do get shirtless shots of both Mads Mikkelsen (in the shower) and Magnus Millang (in the bedroom)! There's also a scene where Lars Ranthe runs through the streets in nothing but his undies and an overcoat! That will have you ordering Another Round of your own!
