Dear David (2023)

The Indonesian Netflix Original romantic dramedy Dear David (2023) puts a Southeast Asian twist on a familiar tale. Laras (Shenina Cinnamon) is the smartest girl in school, earning straight As and setting herself up for a successful adulthood. That is until her secret blog, in which she fantasizes about her classmate David (Emir Mahira), is exposed to the entire school, jeopardizing her future while also making her present life as miserable as possible. Will this ultimately give her the confidence to go after the one thing she's never been confident enough in herself to go after? We certainly hope so, because one look at Emir Mahira shirtless—of which there are several in this flick—is enough to make us jeopardize our social standing!
