Emmanuelle (1974)

When you say Emmanuelle (1974), you’ve said a mouthful. This box office smash created a cottage industry of carnal delights via French softcore porn. In fact, the flesh-filled franchise spawned such erotic dramas as Emmanuelle 2, The Joys of a Woman (1975), Emanuelle in Bangkok (1976), Goodbye Emmanuelle (1977), Emmanuelle 4 (1984), Emmanuelle 5 (1987), Emmanuelle 6 (1988), and Emmanuelle 7 (1993) as well as the British parody Carry On Emmannuelle (1978). Based on the novel “Emmanuelle” (1967) by Emmanuelle Arsan, the original film follows a woman named — you guessed it — Emmanuelle (Sylvia Kristel). When her hubby, diplomat Jean (Daniel Sarky), asks if she’s had other lovers, we are treated to several kinky scenes featuring the titular character along with Ariane (Jeanne Colletin), Bee (Marika Green), and Marie-Ange (Christine Boisson). As you can see, this X rated flick is devoted to showcasing the bare bods on female chicks. Even with the inclusion of an aging Lothario called Mario (Alain Cuny), there are few fellows in the story. And even less male nudity on display. Thankfully, Mr. Sarky does what he can to hunk up the action. In other words, his character partakes in a couple of rousing sex scenes wherein he flashes his awesome abs. Needless to say, the shirtless stud is a sight for sore eyes (and a soft peen). Although this skinternational flick features dialogue in French, Monsieur Sarky’s hairy chest ensures there’s no need for talk. No wonder the movie is considered to be a bone-ified classic!
