Beloved Hollywood icon Tom Hanks stars as the title character in the post apocalyptic science fiction film Finch (2021), an Apple TV original film that debuted on the streaming service in early November, 2021. Set ten years after a solar flare destroyed the earth's ozone layer, rose global temperatures up over 150 degrees Fahrenheit, and destroyed nearly all human life on earth, the film follows the titular robotics engineer who is one of the only surviving humans left alive. He's not alone, however, as he has his trusty dog Goodyear and a robotic helped named Dewey to keep him company in his underground facility in St. Louis. Sadly, Finch is dying and knows that he has to figure out a way for Goodyear to survive without him, so he creates an advanced AI robot named Jeff (Caleb Landry-Jones) and programs him to care for his dog after he's gone. An incoming storm is putting Finch's plans on a rushed timeline however, causing him to flee for San Francisco after Jeff is only three quarters of the way completely programmed, meaning that he'll have to teach Jeff everything he needs to do after Finch is gone himself, as Jeff basically possesses the mind of a child. The film is every bit as touching and depressing as it sounds, particularly since it's a two hour movie about trying to keep a dog from dying. There is a sexy scene near the very beginning of the film where we see America's zaddy Tom Hanks completely nude, though the camera angle is such that we only ever see him in profile and therefore don't get to see any of the good stuff.
