Director Matthew Bright turns a popular children’s story into an adults-only tale of perversity and vice in Freeway (1996). Loosely modeled on the Little Red Riding Hood legend, the Oliver Stone-penned film tells of a strung-out teen prostitute (Reese Witherspoon) who embarks on a hitchhiking quest to find her grandmother and escape a life of foster care. Naturally the Big Bad Wolf (Kiefer Sutherland) gives her a lift and reveals that he’s a serial killer with a taste for teen flesh. Bright’s film is a depraved and twisted road movie, and it left us wishing we could huff and puff and blow some clothes off!
