Friends & Lovers (1999)

Decades ago, television sitcoms such as Friends (1994-2004) could only go so far in their depiction of the romantic interplay and emotional fallout experienced by a bunch of mixed-sex, model-quality pals who are all in the virile prime of youth and form the tightly-knit core of a social circle. To make that extra jump into the territory of reality, a viewer needs to get between the sheets with the bed hoppers of an R-rated flick like Friends & Lovers (1999). Thanks to the pen and direction of George Haas, we meet Carla (Claudia Schiffer), Dave (Danny Nucci), Hans (Robert Downey Jr.), Ian (George Newbern), Jon (Stephen Baldwin), Katherine (Ann Magnuson), Lisa (Alison Eastwood), and Tyrell (Leon). The sexy friends voluntarily maroon themselves over Christmas at a ski lodge yet when cabin fever threatens to set in, they ward off boredom by shedding their threads. In other words, Mr. Baldwin drops his drawers and flashes his ass at the 01:14:52-minute mark. Ten minutes later, it’s Mr. Downey’s turn to reveal his rump during a hump. The sexy scene also highlights the uninhibited actor’s bare back in the sack. If that’s not hot enough, Keaton McCarthy (Neill Barry) steams up the lens when he goes full frontal 33 minutes into the movie. The skintastic shot may be short but Mr. Barry’s schlong is long — and wide! With exposure like this, it’s surprising the film was a critical miss and box office flop.
