Review

Catherine Deneuve earned her first and, to date, only Oscar nomination for her work in Régis Wargnier's Indochine (1992), which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Éliane Devries (Deneuve) is a French woman who was born and raised in Indochina and while raising her adopted daughter Camille (Linh Dan Pham) in the early 1930s, begins a torrid love affair with Jean-Baptiste (Vincent Pérez), a French Navy lieutenant. Independent of Éliane, Jean-Baptiste saves Camille's life, causing the young girl to become smitten with the lieutenant, neither of them knowing the other's identity. Despite the scenic locales in the flick, Vincent Pérez proves to be the best eye candy of all, showing off his sweaty shirtless physique in two scenes!
