Dame Judi Dench proves there’s nothing like a dame — unless it’s a dude in a kilt! Enter the costume drama Mrs Brown (1997), also known as Her Majesty, Mrs Brown. As the titular character, Ms. Dench’s portrayal of Queen Victoria earned her an Oscar nomination. If that’s not impressive enough, she was named Best Actress by the British Academy, the Chicago Film Critics Association, the Satellite Awards, and the Hollywood Foreign Press! But how hard is it to pretend you’re in love with a Scottish hunk (Billy Connolly)? The historical story follows the Queen through a deep depression that followed the death of her husband. This caused her to disappear from public until a forbidden relationship with her servant got her out of her funk. Of course, the affair created a scandalous situation that led to a monarchy crisis. What else is new? As the period piece ponders this question, we meet Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (Antony Sher), Henry Ponsonby (Geoffrey Palmer), Dr. Jenner (Richard Pasco), Lady Churchill (Georgie Glen), Lady Ely (Bridget McConnell), and Bertie, the Prince of Wales (David Westhead). In addition to these real-life characters, the movie also includes the fictional Archie Brown (Gerard Butler). In one sexy scene, he and Connolly strip down on the beach to take a naked dip in the ocean. No doubt, the views of their awesome abs and long schlongs will make a splash in your pants! This is especially true when you get to glance at Gerard’s butt-ler and crown jewels!
