The Romanian black comedy Niki Ardelean, colonel în rezervă (2003) aka Niki and Flo follows Niki (Victor Rebengiuc), a retired colonel in the Romanian army whose daughter, Poucha (Coca Bloos) is married to Florian (Razvan Vasilescu), an aging dude who has grandiose ideas about the “new” Romanian, a country that’s transitioning from Communist rule to democracy. As Poucha and Florian prepare to immigrate to the United States, the old-fashioned Niki is forced to interact with his son-in-law, leading to many caustic yet hilarious confrontations.
