Predmestje (2004)

Based on the novel of the same name, the Slovenian drama Predmestje (2004) aka Suburbs stars Renato Jencek as Marjan, a distraught dude trying to deal with the recent death of his wife. With his fragile state of mind, Marjan gets through life by spending his evenings with his middle-aged buddies at the local bowling alley, pondering their lives in a humorously dark manner. It seems as though each of the group is living a squandered existence rank with unrealized hopes and dreams. But there is a bright spot in their lives—Nebojsa (Tadej Tos) and Jasmina (Maja Lesnik), a young couple of foreign nationality with a robust sex life moves next door to Marjan, given him and his buddies something to obsess over.
