Review

Philadelphia (1993) stars Tom Hanks as Andrew Beckett, a homosexual, AIDS-infected lawyer who is fired from a conservative law firm because of his grim ailment. Beckett lawyer’s up with Joe Miller (Denzel Washington), a personal injury lawyer who dislikes homosexuality but loves money and media exposure. As Miller builds his case, he begins to empathize with the discrimination Beckett faces, leading him on a quest for justice before his client succumbs to his disease. An enticing shower scene full of buttock-baring guys showing their shimmering and wet bodies briefly lifts the heavy, emotional content of the film. This quick voyeuristic view will get your legal briefs wet.
