Former military sniper Mark Wahlberg has turned tail on civilization and is shacked up deep in the with a beard, a dog, and a bunch of guns, but all this soon will come undone in Antoine Fuqua's action flick Shooter (2007). Playing the "retired military man comes back for one last job" trope completely straight, Wahlberg plays Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger, a sharpshooter who gave up the gig after a mission gone awry in Ethiopia. Three years later, Colonel Isaac Johnson (Danny Glover) recruits him for one last mission: he needs to take out another sniper who is believed to be trying to kill the president. But when Bob gets to the big rally where the assassination's supposed to go down, instead of the POTUS, someone shoots the Ethiopian President and pins it on Bob. Realizing he's been framed; Swagger flees the scene and becomes public enemy number one. With the FBI on his tail and the best shooters in the world lining him up in their sights, our sniper has to do whatever he can to stay alive and figure out who is toying with his life. Revenge is a dish best served at a distance. . . with a high-caliber rifle! The sexy shooter has beltway baddies Danny Glover and Ned Beatty marked for the kill, and things are about to get ugly for this funky bunch. Conspira-see-you-in-hell, punks! Mark has always been a real straight shooter when it comes to flaunting his perfect physique. Sadly, we don’t get to see his scope, but we get a scene where Mark is wearing nothing but a towel, removing bullets from his chiseled body.
