Species II (1998)

What comes after Species (1995) but before Species III (2004) and Species: The Awakening (2007)? Why, Species II (1998) of course! This science fiction sequel marks the return of Press Lennox (Michael Madsen), Eve (Natasha Henstridge) and Dr. Laura Baker (Marg Helgenberger) from the first flick. Unlike the successful original, this installment was a flop at the box office despite its talented cast — James Cromwell as U.S. Senator Judson Ross; Peter Boyle as Dr. Herman Cromwell; Richard Belzer as the U.S. President; Mykelti Williamson as Dennis Gamble; Myriam Cyr as Anne Sampas; and Sarah Wynter as Melissa. Under the direction of Peter Medak, this chapter of the franchise focuses on astronaut Patrick Ross (Justin Lazard), who has just returned to Earth from a Mars expedition. Yet unbeknown to the sexy spaceman, he’s got an unwanted traveler with him — alien DNA! Now it seems as though any time he makes love to a lady, she becomes impregnated with alien embryos that are hardwired to kill her once she gives birth. Since Patrick is quite the hunk, this becomes a problem, especially when he engages in a threesome with a debutante (Nancy La Scala) and her sister (Raquel Gardner). In other words, Pat’s amorous actions lead to a clusterfuck of death, alien children, and military involvement. But before all of the death and destruction kicks in, we get a look at Mr. Lazard’s lovely rump while he sexes up some chicks. No wonder you can’t utter the word astronaut without saying ass!
