Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006)

It’s not unusual for an actor to moonlight as a rocker. Academy Award winner Russell Crowe tours with his band Indoor Garden Party; Keanu Reeves (who earned the MTV Movie Award for Most Desirable Male) doubles as a bassist for Dogstar; and Oscar-nominated actor Johnny Depp has played guitar with Rock City Angels in the 1980s, Pink Grenade in 2014, and Hollywood Vampires since 2012. When Jack Black isn’t popping up on the big or small screens, he’s sharing the stage with bandmate Kyle Gass in the comedy rock duo Tenacious D. In fact, the team wrote and starred in the musical fantasy Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006). Under the direction of Liam Lynch (who co-wrote the script), this R-rated flick follows Jables (Black) and Kage (Gass) on their quest to find a magical pick. Along the way, they encounter a Drunk Frat Dude (Colin Hanks), an Open Mic Host (Paul F. Tompkins), a Truck Stop Waitress (Amy Poehler), a Gorgeous Woman (Amy Adams), a Guitar Center Guy (Ben Stiller), a Stranger (Tim Robbins), and Bud Black (Meat Loaf). As fictional legend has it, this supernatural pick belongs to Satan (Dave Grohl). As such, whomever possesses it can become a rock icon. Speaking of, you may get rock-hard when Jack and Kyle drop their drawers at the 26-minute mark. The skintastic act showcases their bare bums which feature matching birthmarks. How cheeky! Even though this pic received mixed reviews, Mr. Man gives it two thumbs and one dick up!
