The Dreadful (2026)

The Dreadful is a gothic horror film set in medieval England during the War of the Roses. It centers on Anne (Sophie Turner), a young woman living in isolation with her mean ol’ mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden). The two are barely able to get by, but somehow things get even worse when Jago (Kit Harington), a man from Anne’s past, returns from war with troubling news. His arrival brings not only tension but a supernatural presence that begins to haunt Anne. Laurence O’Fuarain portrays Anne’s husband, Seamus, and we get a yummy little look at him shirtless while fighting a knight in plate armor. What’s really dreadful is the lack of nudity (we expect more, Kit Harington!), but we’ll settle for some dudes swordfighting.
