The Pelican Brief (1993)

Based on the John Grisham novel of the same name, The Pelican Brief (1993) follows Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts), a curious law student that writes a thesis that implies two recently murdered Supreme Court justices were victims of foul play. When Darby shows her paper to her law professor boyfriend (Sam Shepherd), who in turn shows it to his colleague, FBI lawyer, Gavin Vereek (John Heard), both are mysteriously murdered. Fearful for her life, Darby goes into hiding, planning her next move. Darby’s only hope is investigative reporter Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington), so the two team up to stay alive and inform the world of the real culprits of the judges’ deaths. The suspense is high but the flesh is nil in this intense drama. John Heard shows his chest as he walks around in just a bath towel. Sexy!
