The Protector (1985)

Following his winning cameos in The Cannonball Run films, martial arts legend Jackie Chan made his second attempt—after the box office and critical failure of The Big Brawl (1980)—to break into Hollywood with The Protector (1985). Chan stars as Billy Wong, a New York City detective who is attempting to break up a drug ring that's moving drugs from Hong Kong into the US. The film has two different versions, one for the US market and one for the Asian market, with the latter cut being superior and Chan doing the re-edit of the film himself. His disappointment with the American cut led him back to Hong Kong where he would make his masterpiece Police Story (1985) later that same year! However, if you want to see prime shirtless Jackie Chan, this flick at least delivers plenty of that!
