They Came Together (2014) is a sort-of parody of all those horrible romantic comedies you get dragged to see by your significant other. Paul Rudd stars as Joel, a corporate executive for Candy Systems and Research, a mega candy store chain that has tasked him with shutting down a mom-and-pop candy shop called Upper Sweet Side, owned by the incredibly sweet Molly (Amy Poehler). Yes, it's basically a candy-centric version of You've Got Mail (1998). Of course, since it’s a romantic comedy, it’s inevitable that Joel and Molly fall in love with each other. But the unlikely couple’s whirlwind romance gets challenged by small issues, like that Molly's parents are hardcore Neo-Nazis and that Joel's still obsessed with his ex-girlfriend Judge Judy. But don't worry, they'll realize they're madly in love with each other soon enough. Only, rather than happily ever after, in the end we get a flash-forward to them getting divorced, dealing with their failing business, and watching Molly fall into a nasty prescription pill addiction. Yeah, this one absolutely skewers all those rom-coms you love so much but watching them assault the tropes of the genre is hilarious. Everything gets nice and easy when Paul Rudd teases his ass while having some wildly acrobatic sex. Unfortunately, while his shirtless scenes are real, he's using a double for the naked stuff. Watch for Francis Dumaurier's buns as a sexy chef setting up a silly pun with his ravishing rear. A little later, Michael Ian Black adds a generous look at his slender physique while getting caught in the middle of a romp. This one's quirky but will still leave you jerky! You’ll come together with Paul and Michael!
