Used Cars (1980)

Buying a used car can be a chore, except when Robert Zemeckis is involved. In Used Cars (1980), Kurt Russell stars as Rudy Russo, a shady used car salesman with political aspirations but an empty wallet to fund a campaign. His boss, Luke Fuchs (Jack Warden), has a bad heart and a terrible brother, Roy Fuchs (also Warden), running a competitive car dealership across the highway. When the construction of a state highway jeopardizes Roy’s livelihood, the evil brother concocts a scheme to usurp his brother’s lot. After Luke has an untimely death, Rudy realizes his dreams of running for office ended with his good boss’ demise. Thinking quickly, Rudy and his fellow workers bury their boss and hide his death, telling everyone that he went on vacation. Things get a bit sticky when Fuchs’ daughter, Barbara (Deborah Harmon) comes to town. With Luke out of the picture, the scheming salesman starts doing battle with Roy, trying to outdo him in the car selling game, while lining his pockets with political contributions. Not only is the crazy comedy full of laughs, it has a beautiful shot of Kurt’s butt cracks as he pulls up his skimpy red briefs. We’re in the mood to take Kurt for a test drive!
