Review

Just an absolute classic in the eyes of everyone who has ever seen it now.  From the beloved and timeless SNL skit about 2 young slackers from Aurora, Illinois (excellent!) who host an irreverent cable access TV show, who seemingly worship a handful of culturally relevant things like lengthy guitar riffs, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Fender Stratocaster's, and Claudia Schiffer (shwing!).  Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) started on SNL as wildly popular characters and have now transcended that into becoming one of the most quotable movies of all time after this 1992 feature takes the skit to the big screen.  We basically get a peek behind the curtain of the cable access show and how the hilarious duo try to take it out of Wayne's mom's basement and into the big time.  When the incredibly dashing Benjamin (Rob Lowe) sees an opportunity to exploit their show for his own personal gain, he gets them both to sign a contract that could very well put not only their show, but even their friendship and Wayne's new girlfriend Cassandra (Tia Carrere) in jeopardy.  There is no shortage of Saturday Night Live alum cameos, breaking of the 4th wall by multiple characters, hilarious gags, pop culture callbacks from 1992, and Alice Cooper showing off his incredible knowledge of Mill-ee-Wau-Kay backstage at his concert.  On the sexier side of things, we get prime time Rob Lowe showing off that tanned torso of his in a fantasy sequence where his smug bad guy persona ends up getting the girl, beating the heroes and laying out in the sun, and we also get to see Mike Myers pull-in a wedgie with his tighty whities to make his girlfriend crack up on the phone, doing a hilarious Marilyn Monroe impression in her bra as well.  Modern classic, you can watch this movie a million times and it never gets old!
