Jack Nicholson showed he truly was As Good as It Gets (1997) as a thespian when he took home his second "Best Actor" Oscar for his work as an OCD suffering novelist. Directed by TV legend James L. Brooks, Nicholson plays Melvin Udall, a bestselling romance novelist living in New York City who is obsessed with routine. Part of that routine involves eating the same meal, served by the curvy waitress Carol (Helen Hunt, who also won an Oscar for her work in the film) every single morning. Languishing his days away squirming over germs alone in his apartment, he gets his only kicks by heckling his gay, artist neighbor Simon (Greg Kinnear). Melvin's madcap existence evolves when he's coaxed into caring for Simon's pint-sized pooch while Simon is hospitalized following a brutal beating, and his favorite sexy server leaves town to nurse her sickly son. Far from overjoyed with caring for the canine, he decides to help Carol and her kid by footing the hospital bills so she can keep serving him every day instead of moving away. Will the misanthropic Melvin's newfound puppy love for life and humanity lead to happiness and makin' bacon with the dish of his dreams? This one really gets good when Skeet Ulrich serves up some quick butt crack in a hilariously awkward scene. Greg Kinnear invites him into his house to pose for a painting, and Skeet decides to get right down to business and strip naked way before Greg's ready for him to do so. That'll have you jacking it, and skeeting all over the place! Unfortunately, Jack, Greg, Cuba Gooding Jr. and the rest of the fellas never take their clothes off, so that scene is As Good as It Gets for us.
