The point of watching movies, at least for Mr. Man, is to feel a point in your pants. That’s why we recommend seeing Point of Terror (1971) featuring Peter Carpenter; Point Break (1991) with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze; Point of Seduction: Body Chemistry III starring Andrew Stevens; The Point Men (2001) with Christopher Lambert and Vincent Regan; Check Point (2017) with Gerard Marrone; and Action Point (2018) showcasing Johnny Knoxville. Under the direction of Tim Kirkby, the latter movie is based on Matt Robertson’s short film The Most Insane Amusement Park Ever (2013). Set in the early 1980s, the comedy follows daredevil Deshawn Chico “D.C.” Carver (Knoxville) who runs a third-rate amusement park with the help of his teenage daughter Boogie (Eleanor Worthington Cox). But soon his business will be overshadowed by 7 Parks, a spiffy new place down the road. As such, D.C. must beat the competition before his establishment is foreclosed. Speaking of beating, the members on audience members will be aroused when Benny (Chris Pontius) shows off his built body. Not only does the topless lifeguard tout his tanned torso, he nearly bulges out of his skimpy Speedo! If that’s not skintastic enough, Mr. Pontius flashes his bare buns during a different scene at the 17-minute mark. What a cheeky dude! Yet even with such flesh on display, this slapstick flick turned out to be a critical miss and a box office flop. Nevertheless, we give it our thumbs — and another part of the anatomy — up!
