All That Jazz (1979) is a semi-autobiographical ego trip of a backstage musical from director and choreographer Bob Fosse. Of course, it should come as no surprise that this R rated flick is about a director and choreographer. Roy Scheider plays Joe Gideon, an obsessed, amphetamine-popping, womanizing and hardworking, chain smoker who has a lot on his proverbial plate. While bouncing back and forth between editing a movie and staging a play, Joe deals with his ex-wife Audrey Paris (Leland Palmer), his daughter Michelle (Erzsebet Foldi), and his current girlfriend Katie Jagger (Ann Reinking), along with a handful of mistresses. He even fantasizes about having an affair with Angelique (Jessica Lange), an angel of death. But burning the candle at both ends begins to creep up on Joe, and it’s only a matter of time before his heart ultimately puts a stop to his manic behavior. You’ll be jazzing off when you steal a peek at Mr. Scheider’s physique. Not only does he show off his hairy chest, the Jaws (1975) star will make your jaw drop when he flashes his ass at the 01:48:02 mark! Perhaps that’s why Roy was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. If that’s not impressive enough, the movie also nabbed Oscar noms for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography, with wins for Best Original Score, Best Art Direction, Best Film Editing, and Best Costume Design. However, Mr. Man prefers to give prizes to films that have no costumes at all!
