Most biopics are about artists, singers or athletes. The latter accounts for Knute Rockne, All American (1940), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), The Babe Ruth Story (1948), The Jackie Robinson Story (1950), Paper Lion (1968), Brian’s Song (1971), The Jesse Owens Story (1984), Nadia (1984), The Hurricane (1999), Rocky Marciano (1999), Cinderella Man (2005), Coach Carter (2005), The Fighter (2010), Max Schmeling (2010), Rush (2013), Eddie the Eagle (2015), Pelé: Birth of a Legend (2016), and I, Tonya (2017). Of course, we can’t forget Breaking The Surface: The Greg Louganis Story (1997). Based on the same-named book, this flick follows Greg’s rise to Olympic stardom from when he was young (Patrick David) to his sporty prime (Mario Lopez). Throughout the film, the determined diver deals with flashbacks of his less than perfect past. From being bulled as a child to winning Olympic gold to contracting the HIV virus and finally coming out as a gay athlete, no one knows life’s highs and lows better than Mr. Louganis. For example, while growing up, Greg’s adoptive dad (Michael Murphy) was hard on him. Speaking of hard-ons, Mr. Man was aroused to see the skin in this TV movie. For starters, Mr. David touts his toned torso and bulging briefs. Not to be outdone, Mr. Lopez flashes his fantastic abs. If that’s not hot enough, Mario steams up the small screen when he dons barely-there swimwear. All it takes is just one glance at his skintight Speedo to make a splash in your trunks!
