There's no actual monster in the closet in Stephen Dunn's surrealist coming of age drama Closet Monster (2015). Instead, there's just a young man (Connor Jessup) struggling to deal with his own sexuality. Okay, there's also a talking hamster, but it's more mentor that monster. In the film, Connor Jessup plays Oscar Madly, a shy and sensitive teenage boy stuck living with his ultra-macho homophobe of a father (Aaron Abrams) after his parents divorced during his childhood. He also witnessed a young boy being sexually assaulted, which has always made Oscar a bit uneasy about sex in general. Oscar starts to panic when he realizes he is a homosexual and can't stop thinking about dudes. With nobody he can be his true himself around, Oscar turns to his talking hamster Buffy (Isabella Rossellini), even though the hamster jokes that she's died and been replaced a bunch of times. When Oscar meets a handsome young man (Aliocha Schneider) at his hardware store job who young Mr. Madly falls madly in love with, Oscar is forced to confront the truth about himself. Hopefully, the hamster will help. Other than our raging erection, nothing is monstrous about either Connor Jessup or his buddy Aliocha Schneider when the pair hang out shirtless in the store locker room. Those two strapping young lads give us just enough of a tease to make us want to see more. They're staring at each other's thin bodies, imaging the possibilities while pretending to just be changing into their work clothes. Luckily...there's more! Nothing is Closeted anymore when Connor and Aliocha share a tender kiss while they lay in bed shirtless. Mr. Man would've gotten a job at a hardware store if he knew there was so much hot teen lumber there! Now he just needs to reach for his gerbil! Come out of the closet and pleasure your one-eyed monster to the hot teen skin in Closet Monster!
