Firelight (1997)

Judging by its title, Firelight (1997) is hot! Under the pen and direction of William Nicholson, this romantic drama is set in Europe during the 1830s. The action kicks in when a French-speaking Swiss governess named Elisabeth Laurier (Sophie Marceau) agrees to have a baby with an anonymous Englishman who will pay off her family’s debt in return. As instructed, she gives up her child at birth. But seven years later Elisabeth is hired to serve as governess to a young girl known as Louisa (Dominique Belcourt) who lives on a remote estate. As you can guess, the governess soon realizes Louisa is her biological daughter as well as the anonymous landowner — now revealed as Charles Godwin (Stephen Dillane) with whom she had sex. Nevertheless, Elisabeth must keep her identity a secret from Louisa. Of course, we can’t keep a secret about Mr. Dillane. The British actor is so sexy, we’ve got to shout it from the mountaintops — especially when he touts his toned torso in several scenes. First, we get to see Stephen’s chest when he has sex with his leading lady in bed. Then again when he’s sleeping. There’s also a skinny-dipping scene. Too bad the foggy windows keep us from spotting his dong. However, we can make out his dark pubic hair. Even when his naked profile is blurry, it’s still a sight for sore eyes and a soft peen! Although this period piece has a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Stephen’s flesh feels fresh to us!
