Forever Young (1992)

Set in 1939, the sci-fi-ish romantic drama Forever Young (1992) stars Mel Gibson as Daniel, a brave and daring test pilot that does wonders in an airplane, but he’s too much of a chicken to ask his girlfriend Helen (Isabel Glasser) to marry him, even though he’s head-over-heals in love with her. Tragedy strikes when Helen is hit by a truck and is knocked into a coma, which turns Daniel into a distraught mess. Don’t fret, because Daniel has connections—his friend Harry (George Wendt) is a scientific researching that’s been dabbling in cryogenics. The desperate pilot gets Harry to reluctantly put him on ice until his woman comes out of her coma. Sounds like a good plan? Well, when Harry’s experiments are shut down, the frozen flyer is soon forgotten, left abandoned in a military warehouse.

Fast-forward to 1993 when two kids, Nat (Elijah Wood) and Felix (Robert Hy Gorman), start nosing around the warehouse stumble upon Daniel’s body, unknowingly reviving him. Times have sure change in fifty plus years, so Daniel has a difficult time finding his way through the modern world. The boys’ single mom Claire (Jaime Lee Curtis) takes it upon herself to help the defrosted dude survive, and the two quickly begin to fall in love. But everything quickly changes when Daniel discovers that his beloved Helen is still alive, leaving things with Claire in limbo.
