Long before Pam Grier played Jackie Brown (1997), she took on other titular roles in the blaxploitation pics Coffy (1973), Sheba, Baby (1975) and Friday Foster (1975). The latter flick also features Carl (“Apollo Creed”) Weathers as Yarbro; Eartha (“Catwoman”) Kitt as Madame Rena; Jim (“Mr. Magoo”) Backus as Enos Griffith; Ted (“Isaac the bartender”) Lange as Fancy Dexter; and Scatman (“Louie the garbage man”) Crothers as Reverend Franklin. Based on the same-named comic strip (1970-1974), this action movie follows Friday (Grier), a former model who now works as a magazine photographer. The plot begins when she’s tasked to shoot (with a camera) the wealthiest Black man — Blake Tarr (Thalmus Rasulala) — in the United States. But Friday stumbles on a deadlier shot when she ends up documenting an assassination attempt on her subject. With this newfound evidence, she becomes a target herself. As such, she enlists the help of private eye Colt Hawkins (Yaphet Kotto) to get to the bottom of this who-dunnit. When it comes to who-doffed-it, Ms. Grier takes the cake. Even though the movie showcases her onscreen assets, Mr. Rasulala does not disappoint. In fact, the shirtless stud enjoys some massaging with Pam in the sack. But not before Thalmus and she can be seen together in a tub. Rub a dub dub! Granted, the bubbles cover the ebony hunk’s junk, but we do get to ogle his wet pecs in the bath. Suffice it to say, his skintastic portrayal of a shirtless rich man is priceless!
