In the Soup (1992)

Alexandre Rockwell’s crazy autobiographical comedy In the Soup (1992) stars Steve Buscemi as Aldolpho Rollo, a wannabe screenwriter and aspiring filmmaker desperately trying to get his massive 500-page script “Unconditional Surrender” produced. The hapless writer wants to cast his neighbor (and crush) Angelica (Jennifer Beals) as the lead character. While searching for someone to finance his film, Aldolpho places an ad in the local newspaper, catching the eye of Joe (Seymour Cassel), an eccentric, fast-talking gangster. The fate of the flick teeters on the edge of destruction when Joe raising the cash for the film through less-than-kosher means.
