Remember those nerds in college who sat around and made chain mail outfits to wear at the weekend’s big Renaissance Faire? Knightriders (1981) isn’t about them. Not to be confused with the TV shows Knight Rider (1982-1986), Team Knight Rider (1997-1998) and Knight Rider (2008-2009) or the film A Knight’s Tale (2001) starring Heath Ledger and Rufus Sewell, this R-rated flick follows a dude dubbed King Billy (Ed Harris). He and his motorcycle gang are misfit bikers who risk their lives while jousting on the Renaissance circuit. Director George A. Romero’s character study offers a touching look at outcasts Wizard Merlin (Brother Blue), Little John (Ken Foree), Hoagie Man (Stephen King), Whiteface (John Amplas), Sir Alan (Gary Lahti), Sir Bors (Harold Wayne Jones), Sir Marhalt (Scott Reiniger), and the Lead Minstrel (Donald Rubinstein). As they cope with the changing times, we hope to see them changing out of their clothes. Actually, we don’t have to wait long to see Mr. Harris’s nudity since the drama opens up with him meditating in the buff. Then, towards the end of the pic, Ed shows off his bare back and raw rump while wading in the water. The view is sexy enough to make a splash in your leather motorcycle pants! The movie also includes Mr. Romero’s real life wife Christine Forrest as well as Amy Ingersoll, Patricia Tallman, and Tom Savini’s hairy chest! As Mr. Savini plays Sir Morgan, Mr. Man plays with himself. Although this Knightriders doesn’t have KITT — it has SKIN!
