Marie Antoinette (2006)

Marie Antoinette (2006) is Sofia Coppola's gorgeous retelling of Marie Antoinette's life and death in 18th Century France. Often compared to a historical music video, the film is bright, wild, and full of modern music. There's even a scene where we see a pair of Chuck Taylors back in 1770 to emphasize Marie's youth. The film kicks off with Marie (Kirsten Dunst) at just fourteen years old being sent from her Austrian home to marry France's future King, Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman). She's supposed to get knocked up right away, but Louis isn't really into it. That, combined with her constant ignoring of French cultures and norms really pisses off the locals. Marie spends her days gambling and buying fancy stuff to deal with her celibacy, until Marie's brother Joseph (Danny Huston) comes along and explains how sex works to the King. Soon enough, she pops out a baby and starts boning Axel von Fersen (Jamie Dorman) on the side but doesn't see that the French people are really pissed off at her for all of that reckless spending. As we all know, things aren't going to end well for the teen Queen who never sees the age of twenty. But before it's off with her head, it's a hot dude in bed for the woman derisively called "Madame Deficit." Before he starred as Christian Grey, Jamie Dornan played Count Axel Fersen, the queen's illicit lover in this colorful movie that showed us his young, shirtless chest. He and Kirsten have sex in bed, giving us a lot of Jamie's shirtless bod. We'd love to count his abs, or the dimples on his butt all night! Keep the cake, we'll take a slice of that British beefcake after watching Marie Antoinette!
