While the indie film Seven and a Match (2001) may not be a classic like the animated pic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937); the hip flick Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964); Lina Wertmüller’s Oscar-nominated foreign film Seven Beauties (1975); or David Fincher’s chiller diller Seven (1995), it has some gay action. Under the pen and direction of Derek Simonds, this R-rated dramedy begins when seven friends from Yale University — Blair (Petra Wright), Ellie (Tina Holmes), Matthew (Devon Gummersall), Peter (Adam Scott), Sid (Eion Bailey), Tim (Daniel Sauli) and Wit (Heather Donahue) — come together for a weekend in the same cabin that they used to frequent during summers. The place used to belong to Ellie’s parents but now that they’ve died, she wants to burn it down to the ground in an effort to collect on the insurance. While dealing with this issue, the alums reacquaint themselves with one another. Even though they have gone their own ways since college and a lot of things appear to have changed, old feelings and rivalries continue to remain under the surface. Take Sid and the aptly-named Peter. These two studs still have lingering lust for one another. As such, we get to watch Mr. Bailey and Mr. Scott share a sexy gay kiss. Alas, that’s all they do. C’mon guys, why not doff your duds and go nude too? In other words, if they showed some skin this movie would have become a classic. Instead, it’s Seven and a Miss.
