Lean, mean Matthew Modine got his start by appearing in a 1982 ABC Afterschool Special called Amy & the Angel alongside Helen Slater, Meg Ryan, and James Early Jones. Quite a cast! The next, year, this son of a drive-in manager who grew up bouncing between Utah and California had his first film role in the romantic comedy Baby It's You and appeared alongside 80s starlets Phoebe Cates and Betsey Russell (not to mention Emmanuelle (1974) herself, Sylvia Kristel) in the teen sex comedy classic Private School (1983). We didn't get to see his private parts, but that one at least let us see his bare chest while canoodling with Cates on the beach. He did some shower fighting in a towel against Rob Lowe in The Hotel New Hampshire (1984), but while that one didn't show us anything more than his abs Mr. Modine flashed ass in Birdy (1984). That's a weird one about a Vietnam vet who starts thinking he's a bird. Weirdly, Nicolas Cage plays the normal guy while Matthew is the PTSD suffering manimal. Luckily for us, we get to see Matthew's NSFW tweet worthy tail feathers in a bunch of scenes where he perches naked on his bed, and wakes up nude near a birdcage. Matthew's career really took off when he starred in another 1980s teen classic, director Harold Becker’s 1985 high school wrestling drama Vision Quest (1985) which featured a pretty sweet scene where he strips down while struggling to make weight. We can think of a way to drain him of a few ounces! But Matthew is probably best known for his starring role in Stanley Kubrick's classic 1987 war movie Full Metal Jacket, where he played. Private Joker. Too bad we don’t see his private poker! He went on to portray FBI agent Mike Downey in the 1988 crime comedy Married to the Mob, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Alec Baldwin. Matthew received an Emmy nomination for his performances in the made-for-HBO drama And the Band Played On (1993), but his career stalled after the legendary bomb that was the pirate flick Cutthroat Island (1995). He bounced back by returning to the sports world as Dr. Ollie Powers in Any Given Sunday (1999), then showed he still looked sexy while shirtless as the mustached daddy of Jack Huston in The Garden of Eden (2008). He hit the small screen as city developer Sullivan Groff on Weeds, but really became well known as a TV star when he started doing some mysterious science as Dr. Martin Brenner on Netflix's smash hit Stranger Things. We felt some strange things watching him die while doing a woman doggy style in Breaking News in Yuba County (2021). Since he teamed with Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), it was only natural for him to join the A-plus list cast of Oppenheimer (2023). With his bomb ass body, whenever he wants it Matthew Modine can get the peen!
