If you want proof that actors appear in same-named projects, take a look at Anthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal in Proof (2005); Finbar Lynch in Proof (2004-2005); and Callum Blue in Proof (2015). Of course, we must mention Russell Crowe in Proof (1991). Under the pen and direction of Jocelyn Moorhouse, this Australian dramedy showcases the creative talents of lads from the Land Down Under. Such a vantage point can strike folks in the upper latitudes as charmingly inside-out. The idiosyncratic genius of this flick depicts a blind photographer named Martin (Hugo Weaving). He only takes pictures to assure himself that the seen universe does, in fact, coincide with how it has been described to him by his sighted associates. If that’s not odd enough, Martin’s mischievous housekeeper Celia (Geneviève Picot) rearranges his furniture to prove there’s no certainty in life. But the true highlight of this quirky gem is seeing Mr. Crowe as a young man. The handsome hunk plays Martin’s best pal Andy — and he is definitely a sight for sore eyes. The proof is in the pudding (and on the screen) when Russell reveals his bare back while making love to a lucky lady on the couch. Better yet, the sexy stud shows off his firm buns. No wonder, the movie cleaned up at the Australian Film Institute Awards with wins for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor. In other words, Crowe’s rising star will have your trousers rising too!
