Shine (1996)

Shine (1996) is the true story of Australian pianist David Helfgott (Geoffrey Rush), who is so driven by his father and teachers that he suffers a mental breakdown and spends time in an institution. The tormented talent leaves the loony bin and returns to the piano, playing in bars before his triumphant return to the concert hall. It’s an uplifting story in more ways than one. Noah Taylor and Geoffrey Rush provide the minimal nudity in this artsy drama. Both actors bare their butts in slightly comedic scenes that will have you tightly tuning your piano.
